Facility and Student Guide

Welcome to the Canadian Police College West (CPC West), the western campus of the Canadian Police College (CPC).

The CPC is dedicated to providing police officers, law enforcement personnel, and other guests with an environment conducive to study and professional development.

The CPC West is co-located with the RCMP’s Pacific Region Training Centre (PRTC) in Chilliwack, British Columbia. Please note that smoking is prohibited anywhere inside PRTC / CPC West buildings and within 7 metres of entrances.

We hope that your stay will be a pleasant one.

Accommodations

The Pacific Region Dining Room and accommodations are operated by the Executive Hotel & Resorts. They are responsible for all services during your stay. The CPC Registrar will have made arrangements to book your hotel room and meals at CPC West for you at the time you were registered on the course. You do not need to confirm these arrangements with the hotel.

Most candidates from the Lower Mainland District (LMD) are expected to commute. If you are from the LMD and require reservations, please contact your Training Coordinator for your Police Department so arrangements can be made.

If you have any disabilities, special dietary needs, allergies or any special requirements, please advise the front desk when you check in so appropriate arrangements are made to ensure your stay is a comfortable one. Please only contact them direct at 604-703-2400 for any changes to accommodations, (i.e. arrival or departure dates) or to advise them of any other special requirements.

You will be required to pay for all expenses (meals, travel & accommodations) and claim via your own department. Claim processes and entitlements will be explained to you by your course facilitator. Please ensure you bring enough funds to cover all expenses ($99.75 per day for meals & accommodations including all taxes). Payment can be made at the front desk of building 1100 when you check out. The Executive Hotel will accept all major credit cards and debit cards. Please note that billing is not acceptable.

Arrival: Please register at Reception Desk in Building 1100. This desk is staffed 24/7. The Staff on duty will provide a client ID badge and meal card which is to be worn at all times while on campus, keys to your bedroom and a security access card. Parking, if required, is located southwest of the Training Centre, north of Caen Rd, west of Calais Cres. Do not park in small parking lot directly across from the Admin Building (1101) or along Calais Cres.

Check In: You may check in any time after 16:00 on the day before your course/program commencement. If it starts on a Monday, you may check in any time after 16:00 on the preceding Sunday. Note: your meal plan starts with dinner on the day you check in preceding your course, lunch and breakfast on the check out day but does not cover any meals on the preceding Saturday. You should arrive before 7:00 pm to take dinner on-site. The cost for the room includes the dinner for the first night and breakfast and lunch for the last day of the course. There is no price available for room only without 3 meals.

Check Out: Please vacate your room by 10:00 a.m. the day following the completion of your course/program. The CPC Registrar must pre-approve any extension requests.

Meals

All meals (breakfast lunch & dinner) will be taken at the cafeteria at Pacific Region Training Centre. Commuters' lunch cost is $8.93 per day including GST and must be paid at the cafeteria daily by commuters.

The cafeteria is located on the main floor Bulding 1100. Your identification badge must be worn to show meal-plan entitlements. Proper attire is also required at all times in the cafeteria. (Please also refer to the section entitled “Dress”)

The full meal plan includes breakfast, lunch and dinner but excludes coffee breaks. If the meal plan has not been pre-arranged then you are required to pay the cashier for all meals taken at the cafeteria.

Special dietary meals are available upon advance request made directly to the Hotel.

Conduct

The CPC and the PRTC are committed to providing an environment free of harassment and discrimination. Staff, students and other guests are expected to behave accordingly.

A breach of conduct may result in student dismissal. For CPC students, in such instances, the full tuition, accommodation and meal costs will be charged to and paid by the organization.
